In the book of 1 Samuel, Chapter 25, the story is told of Nabal, who was a selfish, unloving man, who refused to give any food to David after David had protected Nabal’s flocks, herd and workers from harm.
In his anger, David swore to destroy Nabal and all his possessions. But Nabal’s wife, Abigail, hearing that David was coming to wreak vengeance on Nabal, brought much food to David and pleaded for the life of Nabal.
David repented of his anger and turned from the sin he was about to commit.
