Kerrville police department hosting testing, recruitment event

“THIS OPEN TESTING EVENT ALLOWS CANDIDATES TO FAST TRACK THE TESTING PROCESS BEFORE SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION”

- Chris McCall, Kerrville Police Department Chief

The Kerrville Police Department (KPD) will hold an Open Testing and Recruitment event on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at the Dietert Center, 451 Guadalupe Street, beginning at 9 a.m.

This event offers an opportunity for those interested in a law enforcement career to take the first steps toward joining the KPD.

Successful candidates will be eligible to complete the application process and begin the hiring phase.

The event will start with a physical test consisting of a 2,000-meter row on a Concept 2 rower with a damper setting of 5.

Applicants must achieve a minimum of 40%, determined

by a calculator that factors in age group, sex, and weight. Those who meet the required score will move on to the written test.

The written exam will include four sections: math (basic word problems), reading comprehension, grammar, and report writing.

Candidates who pass the written test will take the M-Pulse Assessment, a questionnaire designed to evaluate future job performance in law enforcement.

Members of the KPD Recruiting Team will be available to discuss the hiring process, pay and benefits, and the department’s culture. Sergeant Chuck Bocock, KPD’s Training and Recruiting Sergeant, highlighted the department’s appeal: “The Kerrville Police Department is a great place to work, with a competitive pay scale, outstanding benefits, and a team environment. We are looking for applicants who want more than just a paycheck— they want a career. We’re also eager to speak with experienced officers who are looking to serve a community that truly supports its first responders.”

KPD Chief Chris Mc-Call added, “This Open Testing Event allows candidates to fast track the testing process before submitting an application. It’s a great way to streamline the hiring process, and we hope anyone interested in joining our team comes out to learn more about the opportunities we offer.”

Applicants must be 21 years old by Jan. 1, 2025, have a high school diploma or GED, and must not have a disqualifying criminal or driving history.

Interested candidates are encouraged to RSVP or seek additional information by emailing kpdrecruiting@ kerrvilletx.gov.
