Local ranch creates fund for fire relief

In the face of the wildfires devastating North Texas, Rancho Colorado Del Norte, a 100-year-old family farming and ranching operation in D’Hanis, is extending a helping hand to the affected farmers through the Panhandle Fire Relief Fund.

The heart of Texas agriculture in the Panhandle is grappling with the aftermath of wildfires, leaving farmers in the region with a shortage of hay to feed their horses and cattle.

In response to this dire situation, Rancho Colorado del Norte, owned by Rudi R. Rodriguez, has stepped forward to donate 20 large round hay bales for disaster relief. Sabinal Grain Co. has donated the use of a custom-built hay trailer to transport the hay to Uvalde, which is a staging area for the relief efforts.

Rancho Colorado del Norte’s ranch manager, Mr. Michael Harkins of Sabinal, played a pivotal role in coordinating the transportation and ensuring that the hay bales reach the deserving recipients in the Panhandle.

This collective effort aims to alleviate the challenges faced by the hardworking farmers affected by the wildfires.

Rudi R. Rodriguez, owner of the ranch and noted Texas historian, expressed his sentiments on this initiative, stating, “As a Texas-based ranch, we understand the importance of ranching heritage and community support during challenging times. It is our duty to contribute in any way we can to help our fellow Texans rebuild and recover.”

Mr. Danny Dean, owner of Sabinal Grain Co., also shared his appreciation for Rancho Colorado del Norte’s involvement, stating, “We are immensely grateful for the generous contribution from Rancho Colorado del Norte. This collaboration exemplifies the spirit of unity and compassion that defines the Texan community.”

Rancho Colorado del Norte encourages others to join the cause and extend support to the Panhandle Fire Relief Fund.
