Mayor jailed on second DUI
Bandera City Mayor Suzanne Schauman was arrested December 7 by the Bandera County Sheriff’s office and charged with her second DUI.
Bail was set at $4,000, according to the Bandera County District Clerk’s office.
Schauman was released the same day.
Schauman received her first DUI charge in September 2016.
“I drank too much, I drove and I shouldn’t have,” Schauman told the San Antonio Express news in a November 2016 interview.
A second DUI is a Class A Misdemeanor punishable by no more than $4,500 and/or a jail sentence from 30 days to one year. It Is also possible to have your driver’s license suspended between 180 days to two years.
If a jail sentence is probated, consequences include mandatory three days in the county jail if the accused has a prior conviction over five years old or five days in the county jail if a conviction within five years.
