The Medina Community Library recently added a new solar power system that will provide renewable energy for its meeting hall as well as the existing library whenever the meeting hall is not in use.
Capable of generating roughly 31,600 kilowatt-hours annually, the system was commissioned by Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) as part of the library’s initiative to make the library more sustainable.
“Last week we consumed 328 Kilowatts and produced 502 Kilowatts, so we are currently producing more than we need which is a really good thing for the library,” said Allison Harbour, Medina Community Library director.
