A new two-lane concrete bridge at the intersection of the Medina River and English Crossing Road opened after nearly two years of construction. TxDOT’s construction began in early 2022 as part of the Off System Bridge Program, which targets roads not part of the state highway system. The heavily traveled bridge qualified for an extensive upgrade because of the long detour motorists faced when flooding occurred. The original bridge was constructed in 1980, with initial estimates for the project just over $952,658, though later TxDOT reports targeted it closer to $1 million.
