The Bandera County Sheriff’s Office has issued an urgent advisory for residents and travelers in the area due to severe weather conditions resulting in numerous road closures and hazardous conditions.
Continuous rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, significantly impacting travel safety.
Current Road Conditions:
Highway 16 North:
- Medina - Cemetery Crossing: Impassable
- Medina - Benton Creek: Passable at this time (10:17 am)
- Medina - Patterson Bridge: Closed
- Medina - Smith Hollow: Closed
- Medina - 2nd Coalkiln Road Crossing: 1 foot of water, blocked by debris
- Camp Bandina Crossing: Closed
Privilege Creek Road: Water moving fast and high, Highway 16 is passable
Highway 16 South:
- Bump Gate: High water patches, use caution or choose an alternate route
- Pipe Creek Drive (East and West): High water on the backside
- Privilege Creek/Bear Creek: Water over the road
English Crossing: Water is high, use caution or choose an alternate route
Highway 173 South:
- Whartons Dock Bridge: Impassable, covered with debris
- Whartons Dock - Bruins Creek: Impassable
FM 470: Schmidtke Road closed at both ends
City Streets:
- Hackberry & Maple: Closed
- 1st Street: Impassable
Tarpley Pass: Rock slide in the road
