Last week’s election night concluded with many decisive victories, but two races in particular have yet to resolve.
The race for Bandera County Sheriff continues with a runoff between incumbent Dan Butts, who received 33.88% of the vote, and Josh Teitge, who received 42.67% of the vote. WIll Dietrich finished with 23.45%.
Runoffs in Texas are scheduled for May 28. They occur when no candidate gets 50% plus one vote.
Despite trailing after early voting results were released, Reba Dolphus defeated Andrea Jankoski by 13 votes in the race for tax assessor-collector.
Dolphus resigned earlier this year as tax-assessor collector, and the county replaced her with Jankoski.
Bandera County Judge Richard Evans said it was too late for Dolphus to withdraw her name from the ballot, adding the county is waiting on a legal opinion before proceeding.
Dolphus and Jankoski did not respond to requests for comment.
