HARLAN CLAY CAMPBELL
Harlan Clay Campbell, 87, of Bandera, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2022, in Bandera, Texas. He was born in Johnson County, Texas, near Cleburne, to Clay Garfield Campbell and Sallie Pearl Pollock on October 16, 1933.
He Married Mary Rose Kerber on June 14, 1969, in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
He graduated High School in Kermit, Texas, in 1951 and lived with his parents in San Angelo, Texas. He served on active duty in the US Army for 3 years, February 1954 to February 1957. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of Texas. He worked with Honeywell Avionics Division of Minneapolis specializing in automatic flight controls. It was in Minneapolis that he met Mary Rose Kerber. It was working with flight controls and inertial measurement units that traveled around the United States, England, and Iran supporting Honeywell products. During an assignment in Yuma, Arizona, he obtained a Master of Arts in Management (MAM) from the University of Phoenix. He retired in 1992 in San Antonio, Texas then he and Mary moved to Bandera County to meet his objective of living in the country. He was a member of the Elks Club in Kerrville, Texas. He volunteered at Saint Vincent De Paul in Kerrville, Texas, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He did many jobs locally for people with his Bobcat business. He was an old car fan and took his 1932 Plymouth to many shows and meets, usually winning a trophy.
Harlan is preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Pearl; and son Victor Campbell; sisters, Ronda and her husband Gene Pepper, Dell and her husband T.C. Easdon: brothers, Charles and wife La Verne Campbell, Tony and wife Verlene Campbell, and Bill and wife Goldie Campbell.
Harlan is survived by his wife, Mary; son Eric and his wife Shawn Campbell, son Brit and his wife Shana Campbell; wife of son Victor Campbell, Brenda; five grandchildren, Whitney, Courtney, Faith, Gary and Christopher; four great grandchildren, Patrick, Brayden, Lila and Jasper; and numerous dear family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera. Funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m. with Father Frank Kurzaj officiating. Interment will be at 2:15 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. The family of Harlan Campbell wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at the VA Medical facility in Kerrville as well as the nurses and employees at Alamo Hospice of Bandera.
