JAMES RUSSEL GARZA

James Russel Garza passed away Dec. 15, 2023, at home in Pipe Creek, Texas. He was born on Feb. 23, 1958, in Carrizo Springs. Texas. He grew in Crystal City, Texas, where he developed lifelong friends through football, playing trumpet in the marching and jazz band and being a mischievous altar boy.

James Russel Garza passed away Dec. 15, 2023, at home in Pipe Creek, Texas. He was born on Feb. 23, 1958, in Carrizo Springs. Texas. He grew in Crystal City, Texas, where he developed lifelong friends through football, playing trumpet in the marching and jazz band and being a mischievous altar boy.

At a young age James moved to Wisconsin where he worked hard and had many interesting jobs. At one of those jobs, he found his calling working for people with limited mobility.

In his early 30s he moved back to Texas and for over 30 years James enriched the lives of countless individuals with custom equipment to provide them freedom of mobility. He volunteered for the ALS Clinic in San Antonio for over 20 years and of was known as the “Wheelchair Guy.”

James and Patti were married for almost 30 years. They loved to travel and dance. They went on many fun adventures filled with love and laughter.

He loved his children and spending time with them. He was proud of the adults they have become. His grandchildren brought him indescribable joy. He was a diehard NASCAR and Green Bay Packers fan. He had a passion for fishing, music, and cooking out. He was a great cook and loved feeding everyone. He will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Davis, mother, Elida Garza and stepfather, Vidal Garza.

James is survived by wife Patti Garza, children Jennifer Garza, James Garza (Britny) and Ryan Garza (fiancée Peyton), also by his grandchildren Alisha, Dominic, and Dante. He leaves four beautiful sisters and countless family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Jan. 13, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapel, Bandera, with Dina Buettner, Grace Lutheran Church, officiating. Memorials may be given to Castle Lake Ranch Volunteer Fire Dept. (CLRVFD) PO Box 63742, Pipe Creek, TX 78063, or charity of your choice.
