LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Wow, Silver Sage future sounds like Utopia on Earth! However, expressions like creation of ‘a more inclusive and just society,’ ‘racial and ethnic disparities,’ ‘empowering people and building equitable communities’ means Federal Government money. With that comes OBLIGATIONS to the government — so get ready Bandera!

Wish those 68 houses were promised to Banderans who need them, but let’s check it out in 5 years. Promise of the ‘One Water’ concept is awesome and supposed to be overseen by the TX Commission of Environmental Quality (government again), hoping for support of universities (government again) and the Hill Country Alliance, latter of which does have a proven positive track record for almost singlehandedly awakening awareness of our most serious threat: dwindling water supply. Fingers crossed the HCA and government make a good ‘pioneering’ team.

My point: government officials have a pesky habit of not being educated/not having an interest in, their position in time and space. Let’s hope educated community citizens (as opposed to rollovers), aware of responsible management choices of OUR NATURAL RESOURCES do and will have a vote in this pioneering project as it moves along.
