The Bandera High School track team showcased winning performances at the area track meet on April 10, with both the boys and girls squads securing multiple spots at the upcoming Class 4A Region IV track meet.
In the boys' events, Sam Snavely and Esteban Leyva overcame their seeding positions to secure places at the regional meet in the 400m run and the 110m hurdles, respectively.
Leyva, seeded seventh in the 110m hurdles, stunned the competition with a fourth-place finish despite challenging wind conditions, clocking in at 16.55 seconds.
Snavely, seeded fourth in the 400m run, finished strong with a time of 51.46 seconds, securing his spot at regionals.
The Bulldogs will now focus on preparations for the Class 4A Region IV meet, set to take place April 19-20 at Texas A&M Kingsville, with the top two competitors in each event advancing to the state track meet at the University of Texas May 2-4.
Meanwhile, the Bandera girls varsity track team also shone at the area meet, with Kinlee Lawlis, Gabby Barrera, Jayla Blake, and Sydney Moore all securing spots at the regional meet.
Lawlis impressed with a second-place finish in the long jump and a school record-breaking performance in the 200m dash. Moore showcased her strength in the 100m hurdles, securing a third-place finish and advancing to regionals.
