Bandera Library Happenings

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Come by the Library and see our beautiful decorations. If you take a stroll through the Holiday Lights display in the Bandera River City Park, be sure to look for the Library’s Cowboy Caterpillar.

And don’t forget to pick up your December self-care kit. Each kit is filled with inexpensive and easy to do stress relievers.

Weekly events are fun and free. Check out our calendar online to keep up. Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. is the library’s weekly Dungeons and Dragons game. Monday is our weekly Watercolor class with Daniel. The group meets in the Downstairs meeting room at 10 a.m.

Later that day, our official Pokemon League meets at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday is our Sit-and-Stitch. Bring your needlecraft and have some great conversation.

Storytime for preschoolers meets in the Children’s Library on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Also, on Thursdays at 2 p.m. is our weekly support group in the Downstairs meeting room.

New titles this week include Shea Earnshaw’s newest thriller titled “A History of Wild Places.”

Young Travis Wren has an unusual talent. He can find missing people using only a single object belonging to that person. Wren is usually hired by families desperate to retrieve their lost loved one. The family of Maggie St. James has hired Travis’ services.

Maggie is a well-known author of macabre children’s stories who has disappeared mysteriously. In his search for Maggie, Travis finds himself at a place he thought was only a legend. The place is a reclusive commune founded in the 1970s called Pastoral by a group of like-minded people looking for the simpler ways of life. Years later, a young man named Theo who has lived his whole life in Pastoral stumbles on the remains of Travis Wren’s truck on the outskirts of the commune.

Knowing that no one is allowed in or out of the community, Theo is now caught up in the mysteries of Travis and Maggie’s disappearances. It soon becomes clear that things are not what they seem in Pastoral and their isolated world is not as safe as they thought it to be.
