Lady Bulldogs nab crucial win
The Bandera Lady Bulldogs looked refreshed and full of spunk when they came out on the court against the Lady Hawks of Canyon Lake Their play showed just how energetic they were when they triumphed over the Lady Hawks 49 to 37. The struggling Lady Bulldogs needed this win in district play.
The Lady Bulldogs went into the second quarter at 14 to Canyon Lake’s five, and the Lady Hawks drew closer during the second quarter.
The second quarter saw excellently executed plays by the Bulldogs, but a low percentage on longer shots from the floor, resulting in a 24-22 deficit at halftime.
The third quarter saw the Bulldogs tie it up with the Hawks at 28-all.
Katie Dibrell started the fourth quarter with two three-pointers and made two foul shots. Bandera was up at the four-minute mark 36 to the Hawks’ 30. The Bulldogs showed lots of teamwork in the fourth quarter.
Canyon Lake fell apart under the goal when Cameryn Oullette got into her groove with some great rebounds.
Katie Dibrell drew a foul and made both her shots from the line. Calderon made a quick three-pointer, bringing the score to Bulldogs 44 to Canyon Lake 32.
Unfortunately, Calderon fouled out and left the game close to the three-minute mark.
To make up the slack, Dibrell put in another 3 while Haby made both her foul shots. At the two-minute mark, the Bulldogs were up by 15 points over the Hawks.
Cameryn Oullette fouled out in the last minute of the game.
The Lady Bulldogs came away with a big win and headed to play against the Fredericksburg Billies for the last game of district play on February 8. Results of that game were not available by the Bulletin’s deadline.
