Expert speaking on prescribed burning

The next monthly meeting of the Texas Master Naturalists Hill Country chapter will feature a presentation from Wildlife Biologist Cullom Simpson, who will give a presentation on prescribed burning in the Texas Hill Country.

Cullom will discuss the history of prescribed fire, where we have come from and where we may be going with prescribed fire, and its uses for large and small landowners as a habitat management tool.

A Wildlife Biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the Bell, Coryell and Williamson counties, Simpson grew up in Boerne on property where he learned his liking for the outdoors. He received his Undergraduate Degree in Wildlife Management from Tarleton State University and his Masters at Sul Ross State University’s Borderlands Research Institute.

The free meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 27. Attendees can join online or in-person at the Upper Guadalupe River Authority, located at 125 Lehmann Drive, Suite 100, in Kerrville. Meetings are open to the public.
