Bandera GOP shows Trump strong backing
Local Republicans took less than a week to put on a parade last Saturday as a show of support for Donald Trump.
Modeled after Trump Train parades that were popular before and during the former president’s four-year term, organizers said this particular parade was a show of support following the FBI’s execution of a search warrant last week at Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
Last Saturday, about 35 cars, trucks and motorcycles lined up to participate in the parade.
Rene Leith, Treasurer for the Bandera County Republican Party, and Laura Brisco, VP of Bandera Republican Women, told the Bulletin the way President Trump is being treated made local Republicans want to show they were behind him.
Once planning for the parade started, word spread like fire through the drought-stricken county, said Leith and Briscoe.
Each parade entry was decked out with all kinds of colorful Trump flags and other such signs.
The parade departed from Red Horse Saloon, went through downtown Bandera and returned back to the saloon.
One attendee told the Bulletin he got news of the event and was there in an hour.
Members of the Bandera Republican Party and Republican Women were on site with merchandise like Trump 2024 hats, voting information and even tickets for a spaghetti dinner benefitting the Republican Women.
Leith and Briscoe said Bandera will continue to show strong support for Trump.
