Marshal Nancy De Foster meets with citizenry

Newly appointed Bandera City Marshal Nancy De Foster greeted residents and interested patrons at a morning “Coffee with a Cop” event hosted at the American Legion Hall in Bandera last Saturday.

A line of people formed down the center aisle of the hall to meet the new marshal.

De Foster was dressed for success with cowboy boots, jeans, a western shirt, a radio on her hip and handcuffs at the ready. This contrasted with her bright smile, long blond hair, and slender physique.

Citizens stopped, shook hands and expressed their feelings about Bandera policing. De Foster answered questions and chatted with individuals and small groups.

De Foster stopped to talk to young and old, cataloging their concerns for further consideration. She switched topics easily from discussing specific policing concerns in Bandera to praise for the local grocery delivery service.

Retired law enforcement officer Reagan Daniel marveled at DeFoster’s accessibility.

“I like her, it’s a great turnout. Years ago, you wouldn’t get to talk to a chief. Nowadays it has changed, and they really listen. It’s good that the chief comes down to meet people.”

He remarked these kinds of public relations events are important to citizens and show the concern that chiefs have for their community.

Amy Kepp Sieger characterized De Foster as “fun to be around.”

Sieger said, “She’s an animal lover, a loving mother, and a new grandmother. She is really impressive and multi-talented.”

Sieger also said she is impressed with De Foster’s knowledge as a peace officer.

“I believe she will fit right in here in Bandera,” she said.
