Dorothy Marie Teer Alanis

Dorothy Marie Teer Alanis

Dorothy Marie Teer Alanis, affectionately known as Dottie, was born in Hondo, TX, on January 30, 1952, and entered eternal rest on April 3, 2025. She was the fourth child of Gladys Breiten and Brooks Teer. On August 15, 1973, Dottie married Bruce Alanis, and together they had three children.

Dottie was known for her love of Elvis Presley, a passion she shared with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. One of her fondest memories was a trip to Graceland with her sister-inlaw, Lori Alanis, where they had an unforgettable time together. She loved Christmas, especially because everyone eagerly anticipated her famous homemade Christmas fudge and banana bread, which she generously gifted to friends and family each year. Dottie also held the title of family Galaga champion, secretly practicing the game while the kids were at school to maintain her status as the reigning champion.

Dottie cherished sharing stories of her childhood growing up on her grandparents’ ranch between Bandera and Tarpley, now part of the Hill Country State Natural Area, with those she loved. She often reminisced about the special times spent with her father and siblings, bringing these memories to life for her family. Dottie’s love for her family was immeasurable, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Anita Jeffery (and her husband, Phil); her daughters, Misty Teer and Brooke Perez (and her husband, Robert); Francis Munoz (and her husband, Jeff); her son, Daniel Alanis; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, her sister, Carol Teer Martinez, and her brother, Robert “Bobby” Teer Sr. The family is planning a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
