JACK EDWARD DUNN
Jack graduated from Odessa High School and his multifaceted education culminated in a nursing degree from Temple College in Taylor, Texas. He embraced a multitude of occupations throughout his life, ranging from constructing public roads to inspecting public utilities, and later, caring for the sick and elderly. Jack’s compassionate nature extended to his own family, as he utilized his nursing skills to care for his mother during the twilight of her life, a testament to his commitment to family.
He married Jhessa Labajo-Dunn in Talisay City, Cebu Island, Philippines, on July 27, 2023. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Jhessa, his daughters Alexandria Lauren Dunn and Amber Dawn Randolph Dunn, his son Jeremiah Randolph Macauley Dunn, and his grandchildren, Finn and Gwen Benedict. He is also survived by his brothers John R Dunn, James Mark Dunn, and sisters Jean Ellen Dunn-Sablan and Janis Kathleen Dunn-Morgan.
A faithful member of the Cowboy Church of Odessa, Jack found joy and camaraderie in playing percussion for the church band. Jack’s love for the outdoors was evident in the countless hours he spent engaging in various activities. From gardening to camping and backpacking in the Big Bend alongside his friend Autry, to kayaking with his son, Jeremiah, Jack found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. His passion extended most recently to volunteering with the Tejas Trails Running Club, where he contributed to the preservation of the hiking trails of the Hill Country State Natural Area.
Honoring Jack’s wishes, his body will be cremated, and his ashes will be scattered in the pristine waters of the Devil’s River, a symbolic gesture to “muddy up the Devil’s River,” as he fondly expressed.
Jack’s memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family invites friends and loved ones to join in remembering the warmth, kindness and adventurous spirit that defined Jack. May his memory be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
