CARL J. MICHEL JR.
CARL J. MICHEL JR.
He was born on December 12, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland to Clara and Carl J. Michel Sr.
His father was a member of the US military and moved his family to Laredo, Texas where Carl went to school.
Carl was a proud member of the US Navy as a W4 (warrant office) retiring in 1991 with 30 years of service.
He was an avid collector of knives, guns, books and music. He was very knowledgeable in the history of the civil war and collected a large number of books associated to the subject. He also knew a great deal about the history of his knives and guns that he collected and was eager to share. Carl has a case at The Western Trail Antique Mall with some of his knives. He always looked forward to the get to gathers with the other dealers and especially the traditions that he and Mason Hunt had.
I really don’t think he ever met a stranger even when he was shopping.
He is survived by his wife of more than 26 years, Martha Jane Michel, son Chris Michel of California, daughters B’Anna Allen of East Texas, Leslie Lee and husband Glenn Lee of Ingram, 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He also had a large number of nieces and nephews that he loved to visit with. He was preceded in death by his parents Clara and Carl J. Michel Sr. and his daughter Cheryl. A memorial service to honor his life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. at Silver Sage 803 Buck Creek Dr. Bandera, TX 78003.
Memorials can be made to the Silver Sage in his honor.
