A wildfire in the Texas Panhandle has consumed more than 1 million acres and as of Sunday was just 15% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. It is the largest wildfire in Texas history.

The Annual Lakehills Area Library Fundraiser Dinner invites one and all to enjoy a meal of King Ranch Chicken, with beans, cornbread, salad, and beverage for $12 per plate. Homemade desserts will be available for $3 each. The event will be held at the Lakehills Community Center, 11,225 PR 37, on Saturday, April 13. The doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and the meal will be served at 5:00 until 6:30.

It seems that a lot of people are seriously selling President Biden short in terms of his competence. There are four political party “Committees” in Texas: Democrat, Republican, Independent, and Green. Other Political Action Committees (PACs) can be established for general or specific purposes. Texas Government Code Chapter 251 and the Texas Ethics Commission “Campaign Finance Guide for Committees” are the primary governing documents for PAC administration. For example, the Bandera County Republican Women’s Club (BCRW) PAC was established in December 2003. It is registered and visible on the Attorney General’s website. The Bandera County Republican Party (BCRP) website identifies its goals, mission, and vision: https://www.banderacountyrepublicanparty.com/about. The BCRW and BCRP have worked closely together for years toward shared goals.

El Niño, the weather pattern that has brought wetter and cooler weather to the state over the past several months, appears to be weakening, giving its counterpart, La Niña, a 55% chance of returning soon, according to the Houston Chronicle. The result could be a drier, hotter summer, if February’s weather is any indication.

In the early hours of Saturday, Feb. 17, the bustling kitchen of the Bandera American Legion saw a dedicated group of volunteer cooks and prep cooks gathering at 5:30 a.m.
