4-H TEAMS SOAR AT SA LIVESTOCK CONTEST

In the early hours of Saturday, Feb. 17, the bustling kitchen of the Bandera American Legion saw a dedicated group of volunteer cooks and prep cooks gathering at 5:30 a.m.

The Joshua D. Brown Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will hold its February meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, at the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville.

Estela Avery will be the keynote speaker at the Nagel Clinic’s Bunny Run Kickoff Luncheon to be held at noon on Friday, April 5 in the Events Center of the Village of Hope at 1116 12th St. in Bandera.

The next, regular, Book Sale will be Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During the regular meeting of the Bandera County Commissioners on Jan. 25, JC Stoddard Construction was selected by the court to work on the demolition and clean-up phase of the historical jail and courthouse, a restoration project that began last year and is being headed by Commissioner Jack Moseley.

The Texas Education Agency’s annual report was released last week. It indicates per-student funding in the 2021-2022 school year averaged $14,928 per student, up 42% since 2011. However, state funding has only risen slightly in the past decade, while local funding has increased substantially.
