I’m happy when my opinion columns get a response. Because people get both sides of an issue. My Oct, 8 column declared the U.S. crime rate is falling. A writer, Marcus Kaspar, did not agree.

The federal judge who has repeatedly found Texas in contempt for not fixing its foster-care system has been removed by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a threejudge panel faulted U.S. District Judge Janis Jack’s “highly antagonistic demeanor,” The Texas Tribune reported.

For almost two and a half centuries now, we have struggled back and forth while trying to do what we think is best for our country and those who live here.
