The Banchers and Landowners Association of Texas recently announced its annual meeting for members will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. in the BEC Community Boom, 3172 Hwy 16 N. in Bandera.

At the regular monthly meeting of the Bandera Board of Trustees, Middle School Principal Bobby Lalanne and High School Principal Patrick Sizemore gave a presentation outlining the benefits and drawbacks of a four-day school week.

On Nov. 1, 2023, the men and women inmates received their program certificates for completing 5 weeks of the Inmate Prepped For Life curriculum in the Bandera County Jail.

The Medina Lady Cats earned their first district win of the season on Friday, Dec. 15, in Utopia.

A total of $18 billion in property tax cuts were approved by more than 80% of voters in the November general election and should be reflected in property tax bills that are due by Jan. 31. The cuts come in the form of increased home exemptions, lower school district rates, and limiting the amount property appraisals can rise.

As many of us prepare to celebrate Christmas, while the world is ablaze with war and suffering, it is easy to feel comforted by our relatively safe and cozy lives within our relatively peaceful country. Charles Tilden Higgins of San Antonio, Texas passed away on November 20th, 2023, at the age of 78.

Don’t look now, but former President Donald Trump appears to be opening up a consistent lead in national polls against incumbent President Joe Biden, with Trump beating Biden 47.2% to 43.7%, according to the latest average of polls compiled by RealClearPolitics.com.

Linda Lee Felten, 83, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at her longtime Bandera home, surrounded by loved ones. She was the widower of Kenneth Felten, survived by her sister, Sherrie Jolin, and husband Dave Jolin; brother in law, Bob Felten and wife Donna Felten; daughters, Dina Buettner and husband Karl Buettner, Shayne Brown, and Tracy Rhodes, and husband Rocky Rhodes; and her grandchildren, Davis Buettner, and wife Sydney Buettner, Hannah Buettner, Gunnar Brown, Gage Brown, Stoney Rhodes, Stella Brown, and Stormy Rhodes; and great-grandchildren, Hudson Buettner, and Henry Buettner; and numerous nephews and nieces.

On Dec. 2, the Regent, officers and members of the Major James Kerr Chapter, NSDAR of Kerrville, Texas celebrated the Golden Anniversary of the Chapter at the Inn of the Hills Conference Center.

The Old Bandera Players brought the original play “Hide and Horns” to Bandera for its premiere performance on Saturday at the Coconut Cowboy Stage on the corner of Maple and Eleventh Street.
