Living Together Requires Compromise
Anyone who has been married, or had a roommate, or had kids, or grew up in a family, or had a cellmate knows it’s not that easy to get along with another human for very long without some kind of friction.

Donald Trump terrified our founders
In 1787, the year our founders signed the U.S. Constitution — Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter to Alexander Hamilton about his fears of an autocratic dictator in America: “If once elected, and at a second or third election outvoted by one or two votes, he will pretend false values, foul play, hold possession of the reins of government, be supported by the States voting for him…” https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/02/20/founding-fathers-demagogues-civic-virtue/.

Pray Without Ceasing
What do you think about the most? What gets most of your attention? A rodeo cowboy, especially on the roughstock side of the arena, is always thinking about his sport. Where he's going to enter, what went wrong or right the weekend before. How he's going to get his fees paid this week. Visualizing bull or bronc ride after bronc ride.

Be Careful What You Wish For
We humans love our heroes and villains. From our entertainment to our religions to our politics, one would be hard-pressed to find a part of our lives that didn’t include the drama of Good versus Evil.

HOW MANY IS ONE TOO MANY?
There are four political party “Committees” in Texas: Democrat, Republican, Independent, and Green. Other Political Action Committees (PACs) can be established for general or specific purposes. Texas Government Code Chapter 251 and the Texas Ethics Commission “Campaign Finance Guide for Committees” are the primary governing documents for PAC administration. For example, the Bandera County Republican Women’s Club (BCRW) PAC was established in December 2003. It is registered and visible on the Attorney General’s website. The Bandera County Republican Party (BCRP) website identifies its goals, mission, and vision: https://www.banderacountyrepublicanparty.com/about. The BCRW and BCRP have worked closely together for years toward shared goals.

The Clever “Well-Meaning” Old Dude
It seems that a lot of people are seriously selling President Biden short in terms of his competence. Many are saying he is too old and feeble, he makes terrible gaffes, plus he has a mean dog and as such that he should not be President. However, if you listen to the Republican voices, particularly the one from Donald Trump, you should be thinking differently.

It may be time to say adios to El Niño
El Niño, the weather pattern that has brought wetter and cooler weather to the state over the past several months, appears to be weakening, giving its counterpart, La Niña, a 55% chance of returning soon, according to the Houston Chronicle. The result could be a drier, hotter summer, if February’s weather is any indication.

Federal judge appears skeptical of new border law
A federal judge is expected to rule quickly on the constitutionality of a Texas law about to go into effect that institutes new state penalties for illegal border crossings. During a hearing last week, U.S. District Judge David Ezra said he had concerns that other states would follow Texas’ lead in creating their own immigration laws — a power given exclusively to the federal government under the U.S. Constitution.
